Many local nagar mandals celebrated patotsav in March and April. We have published information about these celebrations and reports from these events from around the world in the Local News section of the NAGAR website.

And thank you for your wonderful response to our special offer of reduced membership fees during this celebration season. We now have dozens of new members.

I have also included a list of the current matrimonial ads on the website. The matrimonial section is now much easier to use than before. If you know of a nagar family who can benefit from this service, please let them know.

Mauli Dave of Texas, USA been selected for "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - 2007"

Mauli Dave of Texas, USA has been selected for "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - 2007. Mauli Dave is daughter of Dipti and Hemant Dave, and sister of Omkar Dave of Webster, Texas. The show will start telecast the episodes from 4th May, Friday in USA. This show will be twice a week on Friday and Saturday at 6.30 to 7.30 pm central time.

We had published news of the release of Mauli and Omkar's first bhajan album a few months back. You can read more about this here and here.

Aatman Shah admitted to MIT

Aatman Shah, son of Vaidehi and Mukesh Shah, of Plano, Texas has been admitted to the undergraduate program at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA.

Our best wishes to Aatman and his family for his continued academic success.

Neha Nanavaty (Maryland, USA) completes a 13.2 mile half-marathon

Neha Nanavaty of Maryland, USA completed a 13.2 mile half-marathon during the Shamrock Sportsfest 2007 at Virginia Beach, Virginia USA on March 18 2007.

This was her first half-marathon.

Dr. Chetan Kharod selected for Young Physician Leadership Award

Dr. Chetan Kharod has been awarded the Young Physician Leadership Award by the American Medical Assocation. According to the AMA,

The Leadership Awards are presented to physicians who have exhibited outstanding leadership in organized medicine and/or community affairs. The awards provide leadership development training for these "emerging leaders" to further strengthen their efforts toward advancing health care in America.

Ruchit Nagar of Houston recognized by Duke's Talent Identification Program

Ruchit, son of Bhupesh and Rupa Nagar of Houston, a grade 8 student now at Village School was recognized at Duke's Grand Recognition ceremony as part of Duke's Talent Identification Program. This year, the ceremony was held in Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke University, Durham, NC on Monday, May 22, 2006.

Each year, top 2% students scoring at the highest levels are invited to attend the Grand Recognition ceremony at Duke University. This year total 69,144 qualified students took SAT.

NAGAR congratulates Ruchit on his outstanding academic achievement.

Obituary Note

Shantilal Dinanath Maharaja, 81, passed away on Sunday April 29 2007 in Orlando, Florida, US.

He is survived by his wife Kusumben Maharaja, sons Deepak and Kiran Maharaja (Orlando, FL) and daughter Daxaben Amitkumar Pandya (Ahmedabad, India), and a large loving family of grand and great grand children in USA and India.

NAGAR expresses deepest condolences and pray almighty to give strength to his family to bear the loss.
